Crafted in Amsterdam, by friends who loved coffee, art, and staying independent.

We were baristas, designers, and café regulars who felt frustrated by corporate oat m*lks that overpromised and underperformed. So we made our own. An oat m*lk that worked with coffee, not against it. One that supported small cafés instead of sidelining them.

We spent months tasting and testing, until we found a blend that steams like a dream, pours like velvet, and lets the flavour of great coffee shine. And it does pretty well with tea and matcha, too.

From the start, we saw every carton as a blank canvas; a space for creativity and community. We began collaborating with local artists who needed a platform, turning every carton into a tiny gallery.

Our first deliveries went out on cargo bikes, rain or shine. Wobbling around the Amsterdam canals, dodging tourists, patching tires, and learning way more than we had hoped about fixing electric tuc tucs, Piaggio engines, and more. Maybe it was not the most efficient, but it worked. Today, ROA is found in thousands of cafés, bakeries and cultural spaces across Europe. Still fiercely independent. Still barista-first. Still giving emerging artists a platform. Because great coffee deserves great oat m*lk, and independent businesses deserve a partner who puts them first.

Our Journey

Three friends fed up with corporate oat m*lk
12,000 BC

The Beginning

Humans develop agricultural practices for the first time. Wild oats grow as weeds within wheat and barley fields, instead of being weeded out, they start a clever defence.
1,500 BC

Domestication of oats

Oats are domesticated because they start to mimic the look of barley and wheat, making it difficult for early farmers to separate them: success!
2020

ROA is born

Three friends develop a barista-first oat m*lk in Amsterdam. ROA starts being delivered on cargo bikes to Amsterdam cafés. A commitment to sustainability and service is established.
2022

Factories & Galleries

First warehouse outside of Netherlands supplies baristas in Berlin, followed by Dublin. After the success of Sophia Bernson's designs for first edition, Mette Broekman transforms cartons into tiny galleries for second edition.
2025

Trusted all across Europe (and UK)

ROA expands to the UK, and is trusted by baristas all across Europe. Work begins on new Barista Coconut M*lk and Bag-in-Box technology, launching 2026.
The Future

More of the above, if you don't mind.
